The Designer's dilemma

How many time as a designer have you heard the phrase "Oh I could do that".
Well if you are a designer probably many, but still, everytime it hurts as much as the first one.
Unfortunately, the concept of semplicity is still unknown to many people. The idea of creating something "simple", is translated in our society, as something easy but most of the time this association is completely wrong and create the stereotype of design = easy.
People think that something which has many elements and many colors required better skills and it's more remarkable but then in the daily situation they are going most likely to be affected by simple and direct visual messages instead of the more elaborate ones.
A good metaphor can be represented by a banquet. If you are hungry and in need of a ten servings meal then ok, an all you can eat buffet can be the solution for you, but most of the time we are just looking for a simple fruit! So why do we want to pay the burden of an expensive check and a search in the ocean of different plates instead of having directly what we are looking for?

Well, sometimes, as in the all you can eat restaurant, we tend to overdue so, I hope that this post will help you get back on track and just limit yoursef to do what is needed letting space for your design to breathe and your audience to have what they need.
